YouTube Watch Hours Calculator

Convert views and average view duration into watch hours, and see how many more views you need to reach the YouTube Partner Program watch-hour threshold. The maths runs in your browser.

Formula: Watch hours = views × average view duration (minutes) ÷ 60

How to use it

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and set the range to the last 365 days.
  2. Enter your views and average view duration. Use public long-form videos only: Shorts views count toward a separate threshold.
  3. Pick the threshold you are working toward. The calculator shows the hours you have, the hours left, and the views needed at your current average duration.

Frequently asked questions

Which watch hours count toward monetization?

Public watch hours on long-form videos from the last 12 months. Shorts views, private and unlisted videos, and deleted videos do not count toward the watch-hour path.

What thresholds does YouTube use?

YouTube has two levels: an earlier tier with fan-funding features and full YPP with ad revenue. The requirements, including a change announced for February 2027, are explained in our YouTube monetization guide.

How can I raise my watch hours faster?

Longer average view duration multiplies every view. Strong intros, chapters and end screens that lead to another video all help.
